About Piers
Visa Lawyer is a dedicated NZ migration-law practice run by Piers Blomfield, Barrister & Solicitor. You deal directly with Piers on every matter — no junior handoffs, no gatekeeper paralegals.
A barrister with more than 25 years' experience and a former prosecutor. Piers holds practising certificates in both New Zealand and New South Wales, and takes on the harder INZ engagements: PPI responses, s 61 requests and ministerial interventions.
Piers has authority from the New Zealand Law Society to accept direct instructions without the need for a separate solicitor — so clients come to him directly. Fees are fixed and quoted up front, with appointments conducted online NZ-wide or in person at Whakatipu Chambers in Queenstown.

Our hourly rate is $330 plus GST. Most visa work is fixed-fee — quoted up front before any work begins. Below are the fees for our most-requested matters.
All fees exclude GST and disbursements (INZ application fees, translations, courier). Where INZ issues a PPI letter, our standard response fee is $1,500 + GST.

Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes — your first 15-minute call with us is free and obligation-free. It is enough time for us to understand the matter, tell you whether we can help, and give you a clear next step. Available evenings and weekends if you are working in the day.
Do you offer remote consultations?
Yes. Most immigration work runs online by video conference, and we act for clients anywhere in New Zealand and offshore. In-person appointments can be arranged where preferred.
What's your hourly rate?
Our hourly rate is $330 plus GST. Most visa work is fixed-fee — we quote the application, INZ correspondence and PPI response cover up front before any work begins, so you know what you are paying. Time-and-attendance billing applies to IPT appeals, judicial review and refugee claims.
Who will run my matter?
